What's on Guide
Worldwide Postcard Exchange
This year’s post card exchange has begun! We have written a letter and postcard for each of the settings in our group the children also chose some photos of activities and made some pieces of artwork to send to them, as well as a Cornish sticker! These are being sent to our preschool pen pals this year in Canada, Kent, USA, Australia, Scotland, New York and Hong Kong! The children are so excited to be sending these packages to other children around the world and we can’t wait for our exciting post to arrive in return! We will be marking our world map with the destinations and learning about these countries this will extend our topic of ‘All about me’, increasing the children’s awareness of others and the wider world.
Dental Health
Take a look at our new interactive dental health display promoting this aspect of children’s development as part of the new curriculum. These resources will be used regularly on display and for activities in the classroom. We have an exciting dental day coming in January, with a dental nurse and hygienist coming for a visit. All children will receive a toothbrush, dental stickers and dental health information in their pack to bring home :) and have an array of books around visiting the dentist that we share regularly!
Charities
We take pride in teaching children about the wider world and becoming involved in charitable events to enhance their experiences in the community, knowledge of the world, and personal, social, emotional development in line with British Values. Some of those we have recently been involved in include-
*Children in Need- we dressed in spotty clothes and donated money, as well as learning about the charity through many related activities
*Harvest Festival- we collected donations for our local food bank and learnt about giving
*Save the Children- we will be wearing our Christmas jumpers and donating to raise money for Save the Children
