Our Ethos
Here at St Teath Preschool we aim to be an extension of the home. We provide a calm, relaxed and sociable environment yet enriched with enticing learning opportunities. The atmosphere in our setting reflects the feeling of contentment and companionship between the children and staff. Our ethos embeds a culture particularly focusing on emotional and social wellbeing, ensuring children feel at home and have a sense of belonging. We pride ourselves on our individual pedagogy as love, support and confidence forms the basis to a child developing and progressing in the 7 areas of learning.
The children have access to inspiring daily activities promoting curiosity and individual growth. Our philosophy focuses on being kind, respectful and caring towards others which is embedded in our everyday practice.
We are Safe - We are Kind- We are Respectful - We are Honest - We Listen
Our Preschool is nestled in the beautiful rural village of St Teath. You will find our purpose built children’s centre as you head out of the village towards Delabole. Our Maple Class welcomes children from ages 3-5 offering free flow to the outdoor playground. Our Cherry Class is a calm and cosy space especially designed for younger children aged 2-3 years. A planned and enriching learning environment tailored to each child ensures children are developing towards their next steps in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. As well as planned adult led activities, we promote learning through play everyday.
Here at St Teath preschool every child has a voice, we are proud to promote British Values, which is embedded within the EYFS and in our daily practice. For example, children become involved in voting, therefore giving the children a right to be democratic and to have a voice, promoting their individual liberty. They learn about their own culture, as well as others, learn to share and build friendships, get involved in the community and access quality trips and visitors, as well as becoming involved in charitable activities for worthy causes. Children have access to all resources in the classroom, developing independence and choice. For more information on some of our exciting activities, please click on our 'What's on Guide' at the top of the page.
Each child will be assigned a Key worker who together with the Manager will ensure the child is developing to the best of their potential and has access to exciting learning and play experiences.
The Preschool is overseen by a voluntary Management Committee. Our skilled team of staff live locally and are all fully qualified with Early Years qualifications at level 3 or above. Each team member is committed to continuous professional development and together have a wealth of knowledge in early years.
We always ensure that correct ratio is met in relation to adult to child numbers and all of our staff and committee members hold current Disclosure & Barring Service enhanced checks.
What Our Parents say about us
"After relocating to the area I was nervous about our daughter making new friends and settling into a new preschool. I can’t praise the staff at St Teath Preschool enough for creating a warm welcoming, fun and happy setting. Not only has my daughter settled in well, she has noticeably progressed with her learning in a short period of time -she even asks to go to “school” at the weekend! We are so pleased our daughter is part of this wonderful learning environment".
"I can’t praise the pre school enough my son loves to come, to the point he wants to go everyday . We get feed back every day and posts though the day with pictures which is lovely as the children always look happy and kept busy. The staff are so friendly and go above and Beyond thank you"!
"Love St Teath preschool as much now as I did when my oldest attended several years ago ‘My little boy loves going! If he’s happy then I’m happy. Thankyou to all the friendly staff".
